A baby is born with HIV every minute. But you can stop this happening. This gift can give another child the chance of an HIV-free start in life...

Ten years ago in a village in rural Malawi, a woman gave birth to a daughter. It was Christmas day. To celebrate, Esther named her daughter Alinafe, which means ‘God is with us’.

But birth can be dangerous if there is HIV in the blood. It’s possible that Alinafe entered the world with her mother’s smile, her mother’s eyes, and her mother’s HIV.

Today, 1,600 babies will be infected with HIV from their mothers. That’s one baby every minute – but with the right drugs and prevention techniques this can be prevented.
