Elisabeth’s story...

I lived in a very poor community with my brothers and sisters. My Dad was very violent to my Mum and my brothers ran away because they thought they would be killed. I wanted to run away but I was scared and I didn’t want to leave my Mum alone with my Dad. But one day it got so bad I had to choose between staying alive and staying with Mum so I left with my sister. It was really hard but we were helped by the ministry and able to move into a girls’ home. I grew up feeling worthless and being treated us rubbish but I realised I am special and I trained as a beautician because I want people to feel and know they are special too. People say when I first came to the home I was very moody and that I have changed a lot. Now I have left the home, I am married to a kind man, I have a good job, I teach at Sunday School and I am very happy.
