Filipino Student Monthly Sponsorship

40% of the Filipino population live under the poverty line and struggle to meet basic needs. Yet there are great opportunities within the Philippines for professional training. For individuals and communities to be able to make the permanent move out of poverty, it is essential to break the poverty cycle and offer free higher education.

In Iloilo City, on the central Island of Panay, a community based project is working to make this breakthrough in a very poor area. The Living Waters project assists families to improve their quality of life and offers protection for those in desperate need. Part of the long-term strategy is to help young people become teachers, nurses, engineers and other professionals, so that they and their communities can break free from poverty. Most families have no possibility of covering the cost of university. The project identifies motivated students who need help and through foreign sponsors, meets the cost of university fees.

Most courses last three years, but the costs are relatively low. The young people of Iloilo need individual sponsors who are willing to invest in their education for a minimum of a year.
